As Michael Jackson said, This is it, and for SOOTH, this really is it! A few months ago we all went our seperate ways to experience a life without Sooth, however as we had started recording 'No More Secrets', we thought it was right to finish it. 3 months later, here it is, fresh out of the oven like a warm loaf ae breed, stuffed with strings, timpanis, choral females, and of course lashings of the RAWK that Sooth love to dish out. Or at least we did love to dish out - now we're only dishing out fries at McDonalds and Burger King; the dream is over and we're now broke, homeless, and wishing you would give us 10p for a bus fare.
Jools Holland's hootenany and Wembley stadium will never know what they missed, and the Daily Mail will never get that scoop on us falling out of Stringfellows with 14 lovely ladies in tow. Rolls Royce are in no danger of losing any of their motors to a swimming pool, and hotel tellies remain safe for the enjoyment of their guests. Yes, it really is over - the van's broke doon (see what I did there?) But now the main event - No More Secrets is now up for your downloading pleasure right on this very site. Click 'Audio' up above and it's the very first item. We put a lot of work into this song, and so did many of our pals - we'd like to thank Annemarie and Fiona of Cairn String Quartet, Louis of Brother Louis Collective, Rachael and Trisha for their vocals, and Derek Bates of EH Studios for their help on the track and their awesome banter. Last but not least, cheers to our very own Malcolm Frew for recording and mixing the track.
In addition to No More Secrets, we have put every single Sooth track up for download. We hope you enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoyed making them, or at the very least we hope that in 30 years you'll find these ancient mp3s and think 'I used to know this band ages ago, they were awesome!' - that's exactly what we'll be doing. They really were great times and we'd like to thank everyone who came and seen us or generally hung about and had a laugh, it's been fun. Thank you all, SOOTH

Well it is a sad day indeed. After an 8 year long journey which took us around the country from Inverness to Leeds and almost everywhere in between, Sooth have decided to call it a day and will play our final gigs within the next two weeks.
We have had an amazing time over the years and have met many interesting people, and have really enjoyed rawking out for you, especially when we could see that you were enjoying it as much as we were. We have really appreciated the support that you all have given us by coming to the gigs, singing along, and letting us know when you like our songs - it did make the difference and made it so worthwhile when people enjoyed the songs and shows that we worked so hard on.
Unfortunately real life has got in the way for some of us however and the work involved in keeping a rawk band going has meant that something had to give, so we decided today that Sooth will be no more. We are all still extremely keen in music and will all continue to play and write in bands and side projects for as long as we are capable. We remain the best of friends and will never forget the times that we have had together, and whilst we are saddened that Sooth has come to an end, we look forward to the new projects that will come in the future. We will finish recording 'No More Secrets' in the studio in April, which will be available online as the last Sooth release.
So, the penultimate Sooth gig will be on Tuesday 31st March at Ivory Blacks in Glasgow, and it is fitting that Sooth will play their last ever gig at Starka in Motherwell on Friday 10th April, where we have played so often throughout the years and had many great nights. We hope to see you there for a final rawk out before we close one of the best chapters of our lives.
Thank you all,
DeeJay, Malcy, Brian, and Dave xxx |

Well it has been some week so far. Saturday came and saw us taking a jaunt down the M77, A71, and that Eaglesham moors road to end up in sunny Kilmarnock, where we did not find any of the best pies as promised by Setanta - gutted. We did instead venture into a bit of a raucous night, which ended in a bar brawl about the local fitba, whilst the bouncer was going on about guitars singing to him when he was on LSD. My jacket still smells of booze.... On Wednesday we delivered a fresh injection of SOOTH goodness to our capital city, which was received in very high spirits. There was plenty our drunk dancing, random shouts of "You're gorgeous pal", and just a hint of the jakey resident.
We were getting life stories about murder trials and folk confused that we didn't have any tambourines. A pretty good recipe for a gig methinks.
So on Friday we return to Glasgow bearing the scars of battle and ready to RAWK with nae socks. We are playing in the fabulous Classic Grand on Jamaica Sreet and are seriously looking forward to it. Tickets are £6 on the door or a fiver from us, and if you don't know how to get there then check out the map here. Doors are at 7pm. |
